Assistant Accountant

An outstanding Assistant Accountant position has recently become available to join a small finance team at a dynamic, international technology company based in Craven Arms. Working in an integral role you will report directly to the Head of Accounting and provide support to two other Accounts team members. This opportunity would suit a confident, proactive, competent individual with excellent communication skills who is MAAT or part-qualified CIMA, ACA or ACCA.

As an Assistant Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Working with Sage 50, assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including preparing accruals and prepayments.
  • Help to prepare the Annual Financial Statements
  • Budget monitoring and variance analysis
  • Monitor expenses claims, ensuring they are consistent with HMRC and the expenses policy.
  • Reconciling of nominal, control accounts and bank accounts. Escalating differences to management in a timely basis with proactive resolution.
  • Investigate issues in relation to the Purchase Ledger accounts on Sage.  Review the aged creditors balances weekly.  Posting of invoices as required.  Ensuring that the purchase ledger is kept up to date.
  • Prepare tax filings.

As an Assistant Accountant you will have:

  • Experience of performing in a similar role for at least 2 years.
  • Proven experience of overseeing the day to day finances of a small to medium sized enterprise and you will be confident with all aspects of a Finance Function of a Business.
  • Experience of finance function with overseas subsidiaries is preferred but not essential.

You will need to be organised, have a great attention to detail, be a good problem solver and tenacious at seeing things through to conclusion. You will be a great communicator at all levels, both verbally and written.

Due to the current pandemic you will work from home having spent some time in the office with colleagues for induction purposes. You will be provided with a company laptop and all necessary information and equipment. Salary of between £26K - £29K DOE.
