Our client is looking for a passionate, positive and confident individual to work alongside their sales team as a Sales Engineer. The role will include:

  • Taking orders and liaising with existing customers 
  • Sourcing new customers 
  • Reading and interpreting information from technical drawings and samples
  • Stock control & maintenance through company software

Responsibilities:

  • Assess customer enquiries prior to quote preparation and ensure that the best technically and commercially sound offer is proposed.
  • To secure orders from existing customers based in the region and nationwide
  • Interpret customers’ requirements and produce quotations for suitable sales enquiries. This involves reading and interpreting information from technical drawings and samples.
  • Contact customers at enquiry stage of sales process via email/phone/visiting face to face in order to determine as much information as possible to help the business gain an order
  • Develop an excellent working relationship with both existing and potential customers
  • Ensure that quotes / orders are correctly entered into the company’s system
  • Arrange contract handover meetings as required within the time allowed in the contract delivery schedule
  • Provide customer support through all stages of the project
  • Work as an effective team member offering flexibility of cover and assistance to other members of staff as required
  • Work to and manage customer expectations through the quoting process. This may require additional hours of work in order to meet deadlines
  • Ensure that processes and procedures are followed
  • Act in a confidential manner when dealing with the highly confidential departmental sales information.

Person Specification:

  • An excellent telephone manner 
  • Computer literate and confident
  • Must be able to work under pressure, plan ahead and prioritise work
  • Should be able to achieve high levels of accuracy when processing work
  • Good attention to detail
  • Clean driving licence
  • You will have attained a good level of technical education / completed an engineering apprenticeship
  • Proven experience in a customer-focused sales environment in an engineering industry
  • Highly motivated, self-starting, proactive and customer-focused

The role will be based in our client’s offices in Craven Arms, Shropshire and will include travelling to visit customers' premises. You will receive full training in our client’s products and processes.

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 DOE plus discretionary bonus.
